I want to crochet!

Posted in amigurumi at 6:36 pm by yasuisora

I went to the yearly book sale yesterday. It’s book sale in late February every year. I love to go and shop books, and even more when you get bargain books, good books for small prizes.

As a birthday present, the 17th of February, I got gift cards, for shopping books at Akademibokhandeln. Wonderful!

I get to spend a lot of money on books, for free. Can it get any better?

Among others I found a none-sale book, a book about crocheting amigurumis. Great!

Lär dig virka supersöta amigurumi” by Annie Obaachan. Original title: “Crochet animals”.

It’s a very good and cute book! And it’s also discussing how to make your own patterns and your own amigurumi figures; a chapter about designing animals.

I long for crocheting new amigurumis. I’ve just made two amigurumis this far, and I’ve got four books with amigurumi patters, plus a binder/folder with lots of free patterns I’ve found on the Internet, plus a bunch of folders in my computer, with amigurumi patterns, Word-files as well as PDF’s, and a whole lot of photographs for inspiration.

I have started at least three different patters but I haven’t had the time to finish them…

Lots of inspiration and ideas, but I haven’t prioritized crocheting yet.

There are so many fun creative things to do, and also there are every day matters that need to be taken care of. Where to find the time!?

I want to crochet!

I have just finished my second amigurumi. I made the last stitches yesterday, but he came alive today. Today I bought and added the eyes. Isn’t he cute? It’s a blueberry bear, called Blåbärsbjörnen (Blueberry Bear). I started out with light blue yarn, but run out of it, so I continued with dark blue. And tada!, the bear got a cap! The original pattern is from Mia Bengtsson’s Virka amigurumi, but I made a bear instead of a mouse, and he has got pearls around the edge of the cap, something I added on my own.

Now I’ll make a short break in my crocheting; I’ll finish an acrylic painting instead, a painting depicting a classic view of a Venice harbour. I started the painting more than half a year ago, so it’s about time I finish it! Wish me luck!

My Very First Amigurumi

I have just finished my very first amigurumi. I made one of the easy figures in Mia Bengtsson‘s book “Virka amigurumi” (Crochet Amigurumi), started this Monday, and finished today, Friday. It was lots of fun!

It was hard though, I got far too many stitches with time going. I ended up with a result of a very fat amigurumi. But still, he’s cute, and he’s got a lovely personality. I’m happy with the result, and he has already got a name: Knubbis, which means something like Chubby/Plumpy.

I’ve already started my second amigurumi, with a blue yarn. I’ll make another one of Mia’s cute figures, this time a pattern of a small baby pig/mouse/beaver, but instead I’ll make a blue baby bear, which I’ll name Bluebear. I’ll show you photos when I’ve finished crocheting the bear.
